Hua Hin Night Markets: Where Locals Actually Shop and Eat After Dark
Hua Hin comes alive after sunset. The day's heat drops, the grills come out, and half the town seems to drift toward a market. If you only know the one strip near the clock tower, you're missing most of the fun. Here's the local rundown.
Hua Hin Night Market (Chatchai)
The original, running along Dechanuchit Road nightly from around 6pm to 11pm. Seafood displayed on ice out front of the restaurants, souvenir stalls, and the best cheap pad thai in town at the cart end. Go hungry, haggle politely, and try the grilled river prawns.
Cicada Market
Open Friday to Sunday evenings near Khao Takiab. Less about knock-off t-shirts, more about local artists, handmade goods, live music and a big open-air food court. This is the one to bring kids to — there's space to sit and an easy-going crowd.
Tamarind Market
Right next to Cicada and often visited in the same evening. Street-food focused, with everything from khao soi to fresh oysters, plus craft beer stands and cocktail carts. Thursday to Sunday from late afternoon.
Grand Night Market
A more local affair behind the Grand Hotel — cheap clothes, phone accessories, and some of the best-value food stalls in Hua Hin. Nightly, and rarely crowded with tourists.
Tips for market night
- Bring cash — most stalls don't take cards, and ATMs near markets charge fees.
- Eat where the queue of locals is. It's always worth the wait.
- Prices are soft at souvenir stalls; a friendly smile gets you further than hard bargaining.
- Markets wind down by 11pm — go early for the full spread.
